Angi is an 11th generation Texas and can talk your ear off about the state. She has a terrific, supportive hubby, supportive family and friends. In fact, no one's ever made fun of her saying she writes romance. Two of her children are out on their own: her son is a Marine stationed in Okinawa until 2007, married with a daughter and another on the way. Her oldest daughter lives close by and has a 3-year old little girl and a son due to arrive in June. Her youngest just turned 14 and keeps her busier than when all three lived at home. Kourtney happens to be the "involved" one -- sports, band, academics and a member of a select softball team that has committed to 2 tournaments per month. Speaking of softball... Almost every spring and early summer evening, Angi umpires Girls Fastpitch or attends one of her daughter's games or practices. She's in her fourteenth year of coaching -- yep, she began when Kourtney was six days old. She volunteers by scheduling the softball league's season, by helping with the Middle School & High School bands, arranging food for athletes before school events and ... well the list could go on... A full-time writer -- whenever she's not driving Kourtney somewhere -- she loves to write fish-out-of-water stories and romantic suspense. She considers herself very fortunate to have landed a supportive agent two years ago who believes in her and her work. Angi has been a member of RWA and a member of Dallas Area Romance Authors since March '99 and joined North Texas RWA in 2003. She has served as the DARA Newsletter Editor 2 years, half a year as Historian, and four years on the Dreamin' In Dallas Conference committee. She served as the RWA Region 5 National Director in 2002 and 2003. She helped with the '03 & 04 NT Great Expectations Contest and is the 2005 coordinator. Angi has overseen RWA's National ContestLink for Contest Coordinators since late 2001 and runs RomanceContests, an announcement only loop for writers interested in contests (over 400 members). She runs the on-line critique group, Rom-Critters, which has over 70 members and is has begun Tex-Critiquers for RWA members in the North Texas area who would also like to critique in-person. At this year's National conference, Angi will be in charge of the Literacy book signing volunteers. Angi won/wrote a chapter of the eHarlequin Writing Round Robin in 2001 and highly recommends participating in this bi-weekly challenge. One of those writers that you either love or hate her work, she rarely finaled in contests...but continued to give them a shot, working her way up the rankings until becoming a double finalist in this year's Great Expectations and winning the Romantic Suspense category with ERRANT RHODES. She judges from ten to twelve contests per year and works with all level of critique partners. Angi is a 2004 Golden Heart finalist in Romantic Suspense with her work: RUNNING FROM LOVE. Her personal on-line critique group consists of one Golden Heart finalist, three Golden Heart winners and another GH finalist who recently sold her manuscript to Temptation.
